The helmet is a bodygroup, but I see what you mean. It might look better after the model is updated.

The headhack and conscript re-do sounds good, but even then I don't think the helmet will look too good on the model. It just seems so out of place, even for HL2 Beta's multitude of concepts. Maybe you could do a ski mask or a green beret, or even these kinds of gas masks:



I'm talking about the bottom 4 characters, by the way.

I was just going off the texture sheet that wasn't used.
There's a couple other unused textures too, a bayonet and a canteen I think.

True but it was never really solidified. Even in the concept art the helmets look more like something from Doctor Who, so it'd be hard to fit in the concept seamlessly.

A knife, on the other hand, would actually make more sense. HL2 Beta already had kind of a cyberpunk/steampunk blend going on, so it'd make sense to have it on certain weapons. The fact that not a lot of military branches use them anymore for combat only help that element.

Canteens could also make sense and probably serve for some symbolism, since the Combine's draining the oceans and all.

The bayonet would bee really easy to remake, but the problem of anims is going to make it unusable.
There aren't any animations for weapon holdtypes with a stabbing gesture.

I could make an animation for it, but I don't know how it will turn out.
I'm not that good of an animator.

Sounds like something Gearbox would do...
Anyone remember when there was a bunch of different Barney models with different anims on Blue Shift, even though they really only needed ONE with all the anims packed inside.

Either the .mdls couldn't handle all of those SMDs or Valve's modelers have OCD and/or short-term memory loss because they only have a few anims and want it that way. If Episode 3 comes out and there are no new weapons, I'm going to kill someone.

Oh, and Shotgunguy, for the stabbing gesture you can just use MeleeAttack01; that animation already looks like a rifle-stabbing gesture.
