so I finally extracted the sound files from Marathon
but when I put them in source as a replacement for the death screams in CS:S and as UI sounds

instead of not working, those sounds wouldn't play at all
not even the default sounds

so wtf happened?

all my other custom sounds work great, why don't these ones work?

maybe there TOO low quality

The sounds are from 1994. Of course they'd have problems.

there are similar problems when trying to put HL2 sounds in HL1.some don't play at all
